On 5 December, the Governor departed on an official visit to India and the United Kingdom at the request of the Victorian Government.
Travel to India offers the chance to reinvigorate cooperation in key sectors following an extended hiatus in senior visits, and underscores the importance of Victoria’s strategic relationship with India.
The visit to the United Kingdom is an opportunity to explore closer economic and people-to-people ties.
International engagement has been a successive key responsibility of Governors of Victoria, and one that requires overseas travel with the support of the Government.
The purpose of these official visits complements international engagement at home by strengthening relationships, opening doors for Victorian businesses, and promoting the State’s economic, social and cultural interests.
